hey hiyo fam,
george here, one of the founders of hiyo, back with another installment of to//from, a monthly letter from me to you keeping you up to date on the latest happenings in hiyo-land.
as october winds down, i’ve been reflecting on what this month means for a lot of us. the fall season has a way of inviting introspection… the air cools, the swirling pace of summer slows, and we’re encouraged, almost naturally, to look inward a bit.

for many in our community, october has become a month to pause alcohol. not so much as a challenge, but simply as a chance to see how life feels with a little more clarity. hearing from so many of you over the last few weeks has been genuinely inspiring. stories of sleeping better, of waking up clearer, of realizing just how present you can be when you give yourself the chance, and of remembering that joy doesn’t need a drink to show up.
if this month didn’t look exactly how you hoped, that’s okay too. change, balance, and self-awareness aren’t things we “achieve.” they’re things we practice. and every month, hell, every moment of awareness is part of that practice.
what i love most about sober october isn’t the break from alcohol; it’s the confidence that comes after. the quiet reminder that you’re more in control than you might’ve realized and that you can unwind, connect, celebrate, laugh, and recharge without needing anything extra to get there.

as we head into the holidays, a time where drinks, gatherings, and celebrations stack up, i hope whatever you found this month stays with you. maybe it’s a gentler pace. maybe it’s a clearer morning. maybe it’s simply knowing that balance is something you can choose, one moment at a time.
thank you, truly, for being part of this community. thank you for showing up for yourselves and each other. it’s the main source of our daily inspiration over here at the hiyo hq.
here’s to the lessons we’re taking with us into a happier, healthier holiday season.
cheers to you,
george
